Nautical Dreams Quiltapalooza Special Event

AQR is excited to welcome Phyllis Fay of Tucker University to Southwestern PA for a Quiltapalooza® Special Event in June of 2026.  Get ready for a quilting journey to a catch the wave and hit the open seas to create her pattern, Nautical Dreams!

Phyllis has had a lifetime career in education.  Her combined love of teaching, sewing and designing patterns comes to life in the classroom and provides her students a unique educational experience. 

Nautical Dreams is a pattern that has caught a lot of attention and when you join us, you will dive in to learn how to make it.  We will kick off our event with a trunks show the first night of the event followed by 2 FULL days in the classroom with Phyllis.  Every evening the classroom will remain open to practice your skills.  This project uses the Studio 180 Design Square Squared, Corner Beam and V-Block tools. The pattern allows you to choose from five different layouts for your Nautical Dream project.  Topper 62" x 62", Twin 65" x 90", Long Twin 76" x 102", Full 90" x 90" and King 102" x 102".

Thursday, June 4, 2026
2pm               Event Registration Desk Opens, Station Set up.  Before we break for dinner we will enjoy a Meet & Greet with Trunk Show with Phyllis Fay.  ( Lite Hors d’oeuvres will be served.)   

Friday, June 5, 2026

9am - 5pm       Day 1 of Classroom Instruction (lunch provided)       
Classroom will remain open after class for time sewing on your own. 

Saturday, June 6, 2026
9am - 5pm       Day 2 of Classroom Instruction, (lunch provided)
Classroom will remain open after class for time sewing on your own. 

Sunday, June 7, 2026
Classroom will remain available for an Open Sew until 2pm.

 Staying at the Lodge is optional and not included in the retreat fee.  A block of rooms has been set aside for our group.  Breakfast and Dinners are on your own but we recommend the local restaurants for great food.  

FAQ about our Quiltapalooza® Special Event:

Do I have to stay at the Lodge? 

You are not are not required to stay at the Lodge.  The choice is yours to commute in or stay, but if you you choose to stay at this beautiful facility, we have arranged for our guests to stay at a special rate of $85/night for the first two guests.  Our block of rooms will be held up until 2 weeks from the event so please make your registration early.  

Can I commute in each day?
Yes, you can commute in each day instead of staying at the Lodge.  

What Meals are included?
Lunch will be provided by AQR for Friday & Saturday.  We are planning for a hearty offering leaving you content for hours. Breakfast & Dinners will be on your own but there are lots of local restaurants in the area.  AQR will also be offering nightly snacks for our guests.   Guests are welcome to bring snacks to share.

Is there a Pattern for the event?
Yes, there is a required pattern for the event, you can purchase that at this link, or in-store. 

What Comes after I Register? 
You will get an email confirmation with your registration.  Our Team is working hard to get ready for this event and will send out updates to the email address with which you register.  Please watch your emails and especially for our final registration email that goes out 60 days prior to the event.  If you have any questions, please contact the shop at info@amysquiltroom.com

How do I make a Reservation for a Room at The Lodge at Chalk Hill?  
Hotel Rental is booked directly with the Lodge by calling 724-438-8880. When calling to reserve your room, tell them you are with Amy's Quilt Room to get in our block of rooms.  The single or double occupancy rate of $82-85/night. If you need a 3rd & 4th guest in the room, an additional fee applies.   You MUST book your room directly with the Lodge and hotel rules and policies apply.  Contact the Lodge for more information.  

Very Important: AQR's Block of Rooms are valid only until 14 days prior to the event date. Any rooms not reserved within 14 days of the event will be released for sale to the general public and the rates will revert to the published rates.  Rates are based off of double occupancy. $10 for each additional person 18 and over.  PLEASE BOOK YOUR ROOM EARLY!!

What time can I arrive for Retreat? 
Retreat Registration Desk opens Thursday at 2pm.  Please check with the Lodge for their check in times.  

What time does Retreat end? 
Retreat Closes on Sunday at 2pm
